I went through a big Architecture in Helsinki phase when I got back from the States in 2004 and made people go to their shows with me. Sally Seltmann who was New Buffalo then often supported their shows. At the time I saw New Buffalo I'll admit, I didn't really appreciate it. The Zoo is mostly a standing space and during summer is a hell-pit of heat, which can alter your appreciation for supporting acts. In fact I can't think of a single support act at the Zoo that I can say I liked more than the main band.
Anyway, back on track. Years later one morning I saw the video for 'Cheer Me Up Thank You' on rage and I realised not loving New Buffalo was a huge mistake. I actually bought a copy of that album online and sent it to my sister-in-law in the USA, and she loved it too. Recently you might have noticed posters in your local coffee shop like I have that Sally Seltmann is now releasing under her name! Below is a video of a song off her new release which films like it read my mind for my getting old party we're planning. It's a pretty song and gets my two year olds dance of approval.
