catch up :: where's my head at

I've been a bit offline lately, it was pretty sad to have lost Margaret... but life goes on and so does the internet and here's some stuff I've come across that I abso-love.

In Brisbane we have this thing - riverfire where a company sponsors a big fireworks display and F1-11's do a 'dump and burn' over the city to capture our hearts and a radio station will put on the music for it. This year I watched it with my son from a Highgate Hill park without music and when I watched the TV coverage I didn't realise how much of a blessing that was. Really, hipsters that have taken over advertising should do all things relating music-> stuff because the idiots in radio do not know what they are doing. If anyone had a heart or soul then the following song would have been mixed in somewhere during fireworks display, but instead it was a mish-mash of music that made no sense. New Years eve fireworks take note.

I used to read Apartment Therapy everyday when I worked and now that I don't have a job I barely check my facebook. But today I decided to read it over my strawberry yoghurt, catch up on painted stairwells, books organised by colour and the latest paint colour trends and I came across a family who have a small cabin. Firstly - of course Canada. Anyone else think they're going to be this century cultural leaders? I mean they have it all - modern society with a English/French influence. Australia doesn't lead so I'm not putting us down, it's hard to lead in isolation.

Secondly - I think a younger version of me wouldn't be as impressed and starry eyed with this cabin as the current me is. How awesome would it be to just pack up your kid/s, head to some land outside the city and live in close quarters for a break? In Australia we're big campers which my husband finds amusing because they were more the motor-homers, and to see a tent block of kitchen, bedroom and lounge area sort of blows his mind. I grew up camping but would definitely prefer to build a cabin somewhere to visit for those times you just want to get out. I love how this cabin is all about the low-impact green thing and getting their kids to nature. I worry I don't get my son C out enough but I just freak he'll dive for the spiderwebs or pick up a snake.

Anyway that's all for now - more updates this week. I'm going to post my school researching on here so things might get a little boring. hearts. exoh.
