see :: local art

I really enjoy living in Brisbane even though I can understand why others might not, I think the Queensland way of life is something you really learn to live pretty easily. One thing I love about this city is going to your local street with storefronts to find local art and knitted poles

Stones Corner is about a twenty minute walk from where I live in Annerley and is mostly currently known for the soccer fields and the World Refugee Day celebration. If you're 'old' Brisbane or old enough to know life before DFO you'd remember Stones Corner for being the Outlet shopping street although unfortunately she's not the shopping mecca that she once was. But it would seem that some people are attempting to inject life into Stones again and brought about a Street Festival which I was actually pretty sad to have missed. The last six months I have missed pretty much everything - but I have no excuses for this half of the year!

Anyway, we walked down to Stones Corner as a family for a coffee on a Saturday morning and were greeted by the below pictures hanging up in the shopping centre. They remind me of that animated film the Triplets of Belleville. Now my iPhone photos don't truly represent Claire Kurzmann's work and you're probably better off checking out her blog for better pictures!
